The new Parc Marie-Victorin Museum opens!
This week we celebrated the inauguration of the new Parc Marie-Victorin Museum in Kingsey Falls. Arising from a collector’s dream to share the rich material history of Quebec, the project showcases cast iron artifacts collected and restored over time to shed light on the ingenuity of Quebec’s regional artisans.
Exploring the notion of digging, both in terms of raw resources for cast iron, and the search for treasures for the collection, the project is sunken within the topography while respecting the surrounding landscape. A group of coniferous trees, located in the heart of the site, is a beacon that drove the building’s placement in the landscape. A central channel leads from the park paths directly to the main entrance of the Museum, provides a smooth descent below ground. A green roof, outdoor terrace and planting beds offer visitors a variety of routes to explore. Visitors are invited to wander freely through the agricultural field and between the pavilions themselves.
Thank you to the Parc Marie-Victorin team, to M. Alain Lemaire, cofounder Cascades and collector of the artifacts displayed in the museum, Groupe Gagné Construction, GSM Project, Pluritech, The city of Kingsey Falls, Tourisme Centre du Québec, Tourisme Québec, Investissement Québec, and Desjardins.
