“The evaluation criteria and process for this commission consistently stressed innovation and design excellence. The winning team, KANVA, is building a series of large-scale inflatable shelters. They didn’t need to show that they had built three temporary inflatable structures of the same scale in the last five years. They were asked instead to demonstrate that their design team had the relevant experience to execute their vision.”
Helena Grdadolnik’s excellent article “Why Canada Needs a Public Architecture Policy”, underlines Imago as an example of how guidelines can be framed to foster innovation. Read the full article on Canadian Architect’s website.

We are very excited to be given the opportunity afforded by the 2017 Professional Prix de Rome. The proposed program of work aims to explore new approaches in architecture that could incorporate a greater sensitivity and mutuality to other living beings in the built environment. The aim of the research will be to further educate our practice and to bring awareness to the greater public regarding the implications of human activity on the environment, the necessity of a change in perspective in human/other species’ habitation boundaries, and the initiation of co-habitation norms that could generate more inclusive building strategies.
