'“BLUE IS THE NEW GREEN” - DALE COOLS - VILLAGE NORDIK

Dans le cadre d'un événement soulignant le début des festivités des Hivernales du 375e de Montréal, Dale Cools est une installation hivernale invitant le public à vivre la nordicité en habitant un fragment de paysage. Le contexte de l’œuvre, en constant changement, vient alors moduler la forme et les composantes de l’installation au gré du mercure. 

Sa forme et ses composantes prennent source dans la nature, appelant le visiteur à une redécouverte sensorielle. L’atmosphère visuelle et sonore dense, l’odeur du sapin, et le craquement de la glace offrent une pause au cœur de l’environnement urbain et industriel du vieux port de Montréal. La juxtaposition de ces deux univers distincts nous rappelle l’inhérente fragilité des paysages nordiques.

Highlighting the beginning of Montreal’s 375th anniversary Hivernales festivities, Dale Cools is a winter installation that invites the public to live nordicity by inhabiting a landscape fragment of trees covered in ice. Visitors are plummeted into a sensorial experience as they navigate through the dense forest, smelling the distinctive odor of the trees, and hearing the crackling of the ice. The installation offers a sensitive pause in the choatic urban environment of Old Montreal; the juxtaposition of the two opposing environments reminds visitors of the inherent fragility of nordic landscapes.
