Le projet ‘Mouvement Topographique’ s’inscrit dans une volonté de définir la Nouvelle Bibliothèque de Drummond­ville comme un lieu collectif, ancré autant dans son environnement phy­sique que dans une sphère intellectu­elle plus large pour offrir aux citoyens une expérience éducative, participa­tive et communautaire.

La stratégie d’insertion urbaine con­siste à unifier l’ensemble du site pour créer un parc citadin composé d’une série d’ondulations végétales qui in­tègre autant les aspects récréatifs du site, les multiples axes de circulation, les diverses fonctions de la biblio­thèque et le stationnement placé en sous-terrain. Ce geste d’unification of­fre aux citoyens un lieu de rassemble­ment, qui permet une interaction entre composantes extérieures et intéri­eures, plateformes hautes et basses, pour devenir un pivot social et un point de convergence.

 Le dynamisme et l’orientation de la trame topographique assimilent les espaces intérieurs de la bibliothèque dans une vision de responsabilité écologique et de valorisation de santé autant physique qu’intellectuelle. Ain­si, de multiples liens se tissent étroite­ment entre nature et savoir, intimité et collectivité, contemplation et anima­tion, et enfants et adultes.

The ‘Topographical Movement’ project strives to define the New Library in Drummondville as a collective space, anchored equally in the physical environment as well as the broad intellectual realm, to offer to the citizens an educational, participative and communal experience.

The urban integration strategy consists of unifying the entire site by creating a city park, composed of a series of botanical undulations, which emphasizes the recreational aspects of the site, the multiple traffic axes, the various functions of the library and the underground parking. The unification gesture of the project offers to the citizens a gathering place, enabling interaction between exterior and interior elements, high and low platforms, to ultimately become a social hub and convergence point.

 The dynamism and orientation of the topographical trajectory integrates the interior spaces of the library with an ecologically responsible vision and the valorization of well-being, insofar as physical and intellectual. Also, multiple links are formed between nature and knowledge, intimacy and collectivity, contemplation and animation, and children and adults.
